Honoring Tradition: Clay Pot Workshop with Ajith Mohan Perera

In a fast-changing world, traditional crafts often fade into obscurity. But at Splendid Seasons, we believe these traditions are worth preserving and promoting — especially when they can inspire new generations. That’s why we organized a Traditional Clay Pot Workshop, featuring none other than Mr. Ajith Mohan Perera, a renowned figure and passionate advocate in Sri Lanka’s pottery industry.

This unique event brought together aspiring artisans, students, and entrepreneurs for a day of creativity and hands-on learning. With decades of experience and a deep understanding of both the art and its economic potential, Mr. Perera shared his journey and insights, inspiring participants to view clay not just as soil — but as a canvas of culture and opportunity.

Participants were invited to mold their own pots under the guidance of the master, learning about shaping, firing, and traditional techniques that date back generations. Beyond the technical skills, the workshop served as a platform for open conversation about craftsmanship, heritage, and the importance of supporting local industries.

One of the most impactful aspects of the event was its focus on entrepreneurship. Many attendees left not only with a clay pot in hand, but with ideas for how to turn this timeless craft into a viable business.

Through this initiative, we reinforced our commitment to preserving Sri Lankan culture while also creating new economic pathways. It was a day of learning, sharing, and celebrating the beauty of tradition — a perfect reflection of the values we hold dear at Splendid Seasons.
